~ Self Care & Celebrating More Local Businesses ~ *
My love of English language started when I was a wild little girl, whose glamorous mother religiously watched Dynasty and Dallas 😁. I was intrigued by different cultures and by their use of language. As a foreign language, I had Russian at school and I throughly enjoyed Russian literature, but on top of my Russian books were always English novels and hand-me-down English magazines.
As I mentioned in my previous post, my favourite English phrase is “Count your blessings.” It is the best. It means evaluation of positivity, of goodness and of luck around us - in a seemingly bad situation.
As a result of my “burnout” last week, my dear husband booked me a mini break. A simple Airbnb in Wilton, Wiltshire. At first, the silence was deafening. But then I went for a walk. I came across this beautiful cafe called Coffee Darling. It is wonderful, warm and welcoming. It is a family run business. Yesterday morning I had a fantastic bacon sandwich in the cafe. This morning I had THE best pancakes and crispy bacon I have ever had in my life, made by a lovely Canadian lady. My breakfast was exquisite: from my beautifully strong coffee, to the pancakes, the bacon and the authentic Canadian maple syrup. I am having my second coffee as I type this. If you are ever in Wilton, or near by, I strongly recommend this place. They also do exclusive three course dinners once a month. They have very kindly put me on their mailing list, as it is by invite only. I cannot wait to bring my husband here.
The other gem of a place I came across is a beautiful florist called Paloma Lilly. The owners, I think, were so welcoming, knowledgeable. I bought a little plant from them, but really I could spend a grand there easily.
So right now, I am counting my blessings and I am grateful. This has been an amazing, inexpensive little break for me. I feel reenergised and ready to start working tomorrow. Here’s to our mental and physical wellbeing. Vesna xxx *
